BPM stands for “Beats Per Minute”, and it is the data on which the Heart Rate calculation is based on. The number displayed next to the BPM acronym literally represents how many times your heart contracts in one minute.
A normal average resting heart rate goes from 60 to 100 beats per minute (BPM). Normally, a heart rate lower than 60 (at rest) indicates a more efficient heart function.
A well-trained athlete might have a normal resting heart rate closer to 40 beats per minute.
